Academic Report: "Reflecting Teachers' Emotions: From Control to Liberation" Topic Lecture Held Successfully
At 9: 00 am on December 27, our college held a lecture entitled "Reflecting Teachers' Emotions: From Control to Liberation" in Conference Room 404, South Building, Tian Jiabing, Suiyuan Campus. This lecture was presided over by Professor Wang Jianhua, and was given by Yin Hongbiao, the professor of the Department of Curriculum and Teaching of the School of Education of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and visiting professor of East China Normal University, Northeast Normal University and Northwest Normal University. Professor Yan Xulei of our institute, doctoral and master graduate students of our institute also participated in this lecture, and the scene was packed.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Yin Hongbiao spoke from the cartoon "Inside Out", the movie "The Matrix" and posters of different professions, vividly describing the importance of emotion in daily work. In a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere, professor Yin took us into the topic of "the relationship between emotion and teachers' work". He used the words of "people's educator" Yu yi to express the nature of teachers' work: teachers must be as passionate as fire; teachers must love ripples. It is pointed out that a good teacher's emotion has the following characteristics: empathy/empathy, passion, enthusiasm, tolerance, great love, vitality, infecting students, and regards "education" as "duty/service" rather than "work". Teachers' emotions are related to the efficiency of teachers' work and the professional development of teachers.
On the issue of emotional essence, Professor Yin talked about three perspectives currently existing: from a psychological perspective, emotion is opposite to cognition, a state of physical and mental excitement generated by an individual under some kind of stimulus, which is a reflection of whether the biological and social needs of human beings are met, while personal reports and various investigation tools are the main ways to study emotional experience; From the perspective of sociology, emotion is the product of interaction between individuals and social environment. The social background in which individuals live constructs their emotions. Individual emotions conform to social norms, while qualitative research is the main method to explain emotions. The perspective of interactionism goes beyond the binary opposition between body and thought and between individual and society in the first two viewpoints. It holds that body, language and culture are all related to emotion. In-depth ethnography can effectively and vividly present the relationship between power, social practice and body and emotion.
Subsequently, Professor Yin introduced the concepts of "emotional labor" and "emotional law", pointing out that "emotional labor" is not only a kind of physical labor, but also a kind of spiritual labor. He proposed that "emotional law" is the criterion or normative system governing individual emotional feelings and expressions. Based on this, professor Yin proposed emotional coping strategies, and then pointed out the emotional rules of Chinese teachers, as well as the three emotional coping strategies of "situation correction, kindness degrees with estrangement , temper justice with mercy".
After reviewing the concept of teachers' emotional labor, professor Yin, on the basis of Habermas' cognitive purport and Foucault's paradox theory, puts forward that emotional rules have no pure "freedom" and "freedom" rejects oppressive emotional rules, and then puts forward another possibility of teachers' emotional research: pure "freedom" that is not affected by emotional rules.
After the wonderful lecture, the students were still being immersed. In the interaction, the students asked Professor Yin one after another based on their work and study experiences: Based on the experience as a teacher, the doctor raised his doubts about "how to deal with the relationship between teachers' work and teachers' emotions." Other doctoral and master students raised corresponding questions about the specific development of teacher emotion research. Professor Yin answered the students' puzzles one by one. Finally, Professor Wang Jianhua gave a subtle comment on the lecture. The important value of the topic of teachers' emotion research was reiterated.
